Amendment of Committees of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Compellability, Privileges and Immunities of Witnesses) Act 1997. |
1.—The Committees of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Compellability, Privileges and Immunities of Witnesses) Act 1997 is amended by inserting the following section after section 3: | |
“3A.—(a) Section 3, in so far as it relates to a committee established for the purposes of, or in connection with, a matter arising under section 4 of Article 35 of the Constitution or pursuant to section 39 of the Courts of Justice Act 1924 or section 20 of the Courts of Justice (District Court) Act 1946 , shall, notwithstanding subsection (4) of section 3, apply to a judge of a court that is specified in that subsection and to which judge the matter relates. | ||
(b) In paragraph (a), ‘committee’ means a committee established, whether before or after the passing of the Committees of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Compellability, Privileges and Immunities of Witnesses) (Amendment) Act 2004, for the purposes of, or in connection with, the behaviour or capacity of a judge whether occurring or first arising before or after such passing.”. |
