S.I. No. 443/2010 - Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010 (Part 4) (Commencement) Order 2010.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, ÉAMON Ó CUÍV, Minister for Social Protection, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (4) of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010 (No. 28 of 2010), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010 (Part 4) (Commencement) Order 2010.

2. The 1st day of September 2010 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010 (No. 28 of 2010) come into operation:

(a) Part 4;

(b) section 34, insofar as it relates to Part 4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the commencement of Part 4 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2010 .

Part 4 provides that the Minister may, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, develop, implement and expand schemes with the objective of providing income support and generating employment or opportunities for employment.

It also inserts a consequential amendment to the Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2007 .

Section 34 provides that the functions covered by Part 4 may be funded from monies provided by the Oireachtas subject to the normal conditions.

This part comes into effect on 1st September 2010.
