I, BATT O’KEEFFE, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive 2009/122 /EC of 14 September 20091 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Quantitative Analysis of Binary Textile Fibre Mixtures) (Amendment) Regulations 2010. | ||
2. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the European Communities (Quantitative Analysis of Binary Textile Fibre Mixtures) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 9 of 2007 ). | ||
3. The Principal Regulations are amended by substituting for Regulation 2 (as amended by Regulation 3 of the European Communities (Quantitative Analysis of Binary Textile Fibre Mixtures) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 ( S.I. No. 128 of 2008 )) the following: | ||
“In these Regulations ‘Directive’ means Directive 96/73/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 19962 , as amended by Commission Directive 2006/2/EC of 6 January 20063 , Commission Directive 2007/4/EC of 2 February 20074 and Commission Directive 2009/122/EC of 14 September 20091.”. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||

This Statutory Instrument transposes Directive 2009/122/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September, 2009 and is a companion of Directive 2009/121/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September, 2009. Directive 2009/121/EC covers the names and definitions of various textile products whereas Directive 2009/122/EC covers the methods for testing these textiles. Commission Directive 2009/122/EC amends Directive 96/73/EC by adding the analytical method for testing the textile called “melamine”. | ||
