I, BRENDAN SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Regulation (EU) No. 454/2010 of 26 May 20101 , Commission Regulation (EU) No. 568/2010 of 29 June 20102 and Commission Regulation (EU) No. 939/2010 of 20 October 20103 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Food and Feed Hygiene) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2010. | ||
2. The European Communities (Food and Feed Hygiene) Regulations 2009 ( S.I. No. 432 of 2009 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of “Feed Regulation” (inserted by the European Communities (Food and Feed Hygiene) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2010 ( S.I. No. 488 of 2010 )) the following:— | ||
“ ‘Feed Regulation’ means Regulation (EC) No. 767/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 as amended by Commission Regulation (EU) No. 454/2010 of 26 May 2010, Commission Regulation (EU) No. 568/2010 of 29 June 2010 and Commission Regulation (EU) No. 939/2010 of 20 October 2010;”. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) | ||
These Regulations update the Food and Feed Hygiene Regulations in relation to: | ||
(i) prohibitions on the placing on the market or use for animal nutritional purposes protein products obtained from yeasts of the Candida variety cultivated on n-alkanes; | ||
(ii) the permitted tolerances for the compositional labelling of feed materials and compound feed; and | ||
(iii) the labelling provisions for feed. | ||
