I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive No. 93/119/EEC of 22 December 19931 , Council Directive 98/58/EC of 20 July 19982 , Council Directive No. 1999/74/EC of 19 July 19993 and Commisson Directive 2002/4/EC of 30 January 20024 , Council Directive No 2007/43/EC of 28 June 20075 , Council Directive No. 2008/119/EC of 18 December 20086 and Council Directive No. 2008/120/EC of 18 December 20087 , hereby make the following Regulations— | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Welfare of Farmed Animals) (Amendment) Regulations 2012. | ||
2. The European Communities (Welfare of Farmed Animals) Regulations 2010 are amended— | ||
(a) in Regulation 41(1) (i), by the insertion after “on” of “summary”, and | ||
(b) in Regulation 41 (2), by the substitution for “A summary offence under these Regulations may be prosecuted by the Minister” of “An offence under these Regulations may be prosecuted in a summary manner by the Minister”. | ||
