I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, being satisfied as to the state of operational and financial readiness of Shannon airport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 (1)(b) of the State Airports Act 2004 (No. 32 of 2004) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), and the Finance (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 418 of 2011 ), with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, hereby order as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the State Airports Act 2004 (Shannon Appointed Day) Order 2012. | ||
2. The day appointed to be the appointed day in respect of Shannon Airport Authority is 31 December 2012. | ||
The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, being satisfied as to the state of operational and financial readiness of Shannon airport, consents to the making of the foregoing order. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) | ||
As provided for under section 5 (1)(b) of the State Airports Act 2004 , this Order sets the date with effect from which Shannon Airport Authority (SAA) will be separated from the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and confirms that both the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform are satisfied as to the operational and financial readiness of Shannon Airport for separation. The day so appointed is the Shannon appointed day for the purposes of the State Airports Act 2004 . |
