I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Directive 2009/40/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 20091 as amended by Commission Directive 2010/48/EU of 5 July 20102 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Vehicle Testing) Regulations 2004 (Revocation) Regulations 2013. | ||
2. These Regulations come into operation on 27th March 2013. | ||
3. The following Regulations are revoked— | ||
(a) European Communities (Vehicle Testing) Regulations 2004 ( S.I. No. 771 of 2004 ); | ||
(b) European Communities (Vehicle Testing) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 709 of 2007 ); | ||
(c) European Communities (Vehicle Testing) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 ( S.I. No. 311 of 2008 ); | ||
(d) European Communities (Vehicle Testing) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 710 of 2011 ); | ||
(e) European Communities (Vehicle Testing) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 ( S.I. No. 58 of 2012 ). | ||

The purpose of these Regulations is to revoke the European Communities (Vehicle Testing) Regulations, 2004 ( S.I. No. 771 of 2004 ). The 2004 Regulations are no longer required because provisions relating to the authorisation of testing centres and testers, the cnduct of commercial vehicle testing, test fees and enforcement are now provided in Part 2 of the Road Safety Authority (Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness) Act 2012 (No. 16 of 2012). | ||
