Amendment of section 19 of Principal Act

17. Section 19 of the Principal Act is amended—
|
|
| |
(a) in subsection (1), by the substitution of “Subject to subsection (2A), the Garda Commissioner may appoint” for “The Garda Commissioner may appoint” and the substitution of “as may be approved by the Authority with the consent of the Minister and” for “as may be approved by the Minister with the consent of”,
|
|
| |
(b) in subsection (2), by the substitution of “as may be approved by the Authority with the consent of the Minister and” for “as may be approved by the Minister with the consent of”, and
|
|
| |
(c) by the insertion of the following subsection after subsection (2) :
|
|
| |
“(2A) The civilian staff of the Garda Síochána of grades that are equivalent to or above that of chief superintendent in the Garda Síochána shall be appointed by the Authority.”.
|
