I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 (amended by section 4 of the Health Insurance (Amendment) Act 2012 (No. 45 of 2012)) and 9 of the Health Insurance Act 1994 (No. 16 of 1994), hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health Insurance Act 1994 (Lifetime Cover) (Revocation) Regulations 2016. | ||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 January 2017. | ||
2. The Health Insurance Act 1994 (Lifetime Cover) Regulations 1996 ( S.I. No. 82 of 1996 ) are revoked. | ||

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) | ||
The purpose of these regulations is to revoke S.I. 82 of 1996. The repealed regulations provided that once a person is insured with a registered undertaking, it cannot terminate or refuse to renew the contract except in specified limited circumstances. The regulations are now superseded by the Health Insurance (Amendment) Act, 2016 . |
