I, REGINA DOHERTY, Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection (as adapted by the Social Protection (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2017 ( S.I. No. 366 of 2017 )), in exercise of the powers conferred on me, (as adapted by the Labour Affairs and Labour Law (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2017 ( S.I. No. 361 of 2017 )); | ||
- by subsection (1)(a) of section 10D (amended by section 28 of the Social Welfare (No. 2) Act 2019 (No. 48 of 2019)) of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 (No. 5 of 2000), and | ||
- by section 3(1) of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 ; | ||
having received on 10 July 2019, a recommendation made by the Low Pay Commission under subsection (1) of section 10C (inserted by section 7 of the National Minimum Wage (Low Pay Commission) Act 2015 ) of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 , and having considered the recommendation, hereby order as follows: | ||
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the National Minimum Wage Order 2020. | ||
(2) This Order comes into operation on 1 February 2020. | ||
2. It is hereby declared that the national minimum hourly rate of pay for the purposes of the National Minimum Wage Acts 2000 and 2015 shall be €10.10. | ||
3. The national minimum hourly rate of pay may include the following allowances: | ||
(a) for board only, €0.90 per hour worked, | ||
(b) for lodgings only, €23.86 per week, or €3.42 per day. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). | ||
This Order sets the national minimum hourly rate of pay from 1 February 2020 at €10.10, and the board and lodging rates as follows; | ||
• Lodgings: €23.86 per week, or €3.42 per day. | ||
• Board: €0.90 per hour worked. |
