I, Michael Creed, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/1813 of 29 October 20191 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Marketing of Fruit Plant Propagating Material) (Amendment) Regulations 2020. | ||
2. The European Communities (Marketing of Fruit Plant Propagating Material) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 384 of 2011 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of “Directive”, the following – | ||
“‘Directive’ means Council Directive 2008/90/EC of 29 September 20082 (as amended by Regulation (EU) No 652/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 May 20143 , Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/159 of 4 February 20164 , Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/1887 of 24 October 20165 and Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/120 of 24 January 20196 ),Commission Implementing Directive 2014/96/EU of 15 October 20147 (as amended by Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/1813 of 29 October 2019), Commission Implementing Directive 2014/97/EU of 15 October 20148 and Commission Implementing Directive 2014/98/EU of 15 October 20149 ; ”. | ||
3. The European Communities (Marketing of Fruit Plant Propagating Material) (Amendment) Regulations 2019 ( S.I. No. 198 of 2019 ) are revoked. | ||

These Regulations update existing Legislation with regard to the minimum quality standards and controls on the marketing within the European Union of fruit plant propagating material and fruit plants intended for fruit production. | ||
