I, HELEN MCENTEE, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2011/36/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 20111 on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims, and replacing Council Framework Decision 2002/629/JHA, hereby make the following regulations: | ||
Citation | ||
1. These regulations may be cited as the European Union (Prevention and Combating of Human Trafficking) (National Rapporteur) Regulations 2020. | ||
Interpretation | ||
2. In these Regulations “Act of 2014” means the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014 (No. 25 of 2014). | ||
Amendment of section 10 of Act of 2014 | ||
3. Section 10 of the Act of 2014 is amended in subsection (2) by the insertion of the following paragraph after paragraph (i): | ||
“(ia) to be, and to carry out the tasks of, the national rapporteur referred to in Article 19 of Directive 2011/36/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 20112 on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims, and replacing Council Framework Decision 2002/629/JHA;”. | ||
