S.I. No. 563/2020 - Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Registration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Rules 2020

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 4th December, 2020.

The Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on the said Society by section 11 of the Pharmacy Act 2007 (No. 20 of 2007) (as adapted by the Health and Children (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 219 of 2011 )), with the consent of the Minister for Health, hereby makes the following rules:

1. (1) These Rules may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Registration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Rules 2020.

(2) The collective citation “the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Registration) Rules 2008 to 2020” includes these Rules.

2. These Rules come into operation on 1 January 2021.

3. In these Rules “Principal Rules” means the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Registration) Rules 2008 ( S.I. No. 494 of 2008 ).

4. Rule 18 (as amended by Rule 4 of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Registration) (Amendment) Rules 2020 ( S.I. No. 316 of 2020 )) of the Principal Rules is amended—

(a) in paragraph (1), by substituting “The Council” for “Subject to the provisions of this Rule, the Council”,

(b) in paragraph (2), by substituting “may” for “shall”,

(c) by deleting paragraph (2A), and

(d) in paragraph (3), by substituting “paragraph (1)” for “paragraph (2A)”.

5. Paragraph 10(d) of Schedule 4 to the Principal Rules is amended by inserting “except in the case of a qualification which would have been automatically recognised under the Professional Qualifications Directive before 31 December 2020, and the training for which had commenced before that date,”, before “the detailed syllabus”.
