I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2014/90/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 20141 , as amended by Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2021/1206 of 30 April 20212 , and full effect to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1158 of 22 June 20213 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Marine Equipment) (Amendment) Regulations 2021. | ||
2. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the European Union (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2017 ( S.I. No. 177 of 2017 ). | ||
3. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is amended in paragraph (1)— | ||
(a) by the substitution for the definition of the “Directive” of the following: | ||
“‘Directive’ means Directive 2014/90/EU of 23 July 20141 , as amended by Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2021/1206 of 30 April 20212 ;”, and | ||
(b) by the deletion of the definitions of the “Regulation of 2019” and “Regulation of 2020”. | ||
4. Regulation 10 of the Principal Regulations is amended in paragraph (2)(b) by the substitution of “Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1158 of 22 June 20213 ” for “Regulation of 2020”. | ||
5. Regulation 46 of the Principal Regulations is amended by the deletion of paragraphs (3) to (6). | ||

This Statutory Instrument amends the European Union (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2017 ( S.I. No. 177 of 2017 ), which gave effect to Directive 2014/90/EU of 23 July 2014, to take account of Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2021/1206 of 30 April 2021 amending Annex III to Directive 2014/90/EU and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1158 of 22 June 2021.. | ||
