S.I. No. 439/2024 - Garda Síochána (Retirement) (Amendment) Regulations 2024

I, HELEN MCENTEE, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 128(2) of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (No. 20 of 2005) (as adapted by the Justice and Equality (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 452 of 2020 )), with the approval of the Government, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Garda Síochána (Retirement) (Amendment) Regulations 2024.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 3 of September 2024.

3. Regulation 6 of the Garda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 1951 ( S.I. No. 335 of 1951 ) is hereby amended –

(a) in paragraph (a)(ii), by the substitution of “sixty-two” for “sixty”,

(b) in paragraph (a)(iii), by the substitution of “sixty-two” for “sixty”, and

(c) in paragraph (b), by the substitution of “three years” for “five years”.

The Government hereby approve of the foregoing Regulations.
