S.I. No. 495/2024 - Child Care (Amendment) Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2024

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 1st October, 2024.

I, RODERIC O’GORMAN, Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 (3) of the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2024 (No. 19 of 2024), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2024.

2. In this Order, “Principal Act” means the Child Care Act 1991 (No. 17 of 1991).

3. The 30th day of September 2024 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2024 (No. 19 of 2024) shall come into operation:

(a) section 1;

(b) section 2;

(c) section 3;

(d) paragraph (a) of section 4;

(e) paragraph (b) of section 4, insofar as that paragraph relates to the insertion of the following definitions in section 58A of the Principal Act:

(i) “childminding service”;

(ii) “premises”;

(iii) “registered provider”;

(f) subparagraphs (i) and (ii) of section 5(a);

(g) subparagraph (iii) of section 5(a), insofar as that subparagraph relates to the insertion of paragraphs (g) and (h) in section 58B(2) of the Principal Act;

(h) section 6;

(i) section 7, other than paragraph (d);

(j) section 10;

(k) paragraph (a) of section 16;

(l) sections 17 to 23.
