S.I. No. 530/2024 - Extradition (United Arab Emirates) Order 2024


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 18th October, 2024.

WHEREAS the Minister for Foreign Affairs has consulted with the Minister for Justice;

AND WHEREAS the Minister for Justice is satisfied, on the basis of notes exchanged between the State and the United Arab Emirates on 22 September 2022 and 9 September 2024, that reciprocal facilities will be afforded by the United Arab Emirates to the State for the surrender, for one or more of the offences specified in those notes, by each country to the other, of persons wanted for prosecution or punishment;

NOW, I, MICHEÁL MARTIN, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 8(1) (amended by section 57(3) of the Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) Act 2005 (No. 2 of 2005)) of the Extradition Act 1965 (No. 17 of 1965), after consultation with the Minister for Justice, hereby make the following order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Extradition (United Arab Emirates) Order 2024.

2. Part II of the Extradition Act 1965 (No. 17 of 1965) shall apply in relation to the United Arab Emirates as respects the offences specified in the notes exchanged between the State and the United Arab Emirates on 22 September 2022 and 9 September 2024.
