I, CHARLIE MCCONALOGUE, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 14 of the Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006 (No. 8 of 2006) for the purpose of giving further effect to Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 3440/84 of 6 December 19841 (as amended by Regulation (EEC) No 955/87 of 1 April 19872 , Commission Regulation (EEC) No 2122/89 of 14 July 19893 and Commission Regulation No 146/2007 of 15 February 20074 ), and Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 20195 , and effect to Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/491 of 30 November 20236 and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/492 of 30 November 20237 hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Sea-Fisheries (Technical Measures) (Amendment) Regulations 2024. | ||
2. The Sea-Fisheries (Technical Measures) Regulations 2019 ( S.I. No. 520 of 2019 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by the insertion after “19 July 2022” in the definition of “Council Regulation” (as amended by the Sea-Fisheries (Technical Measures) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 ( S.I. No. 13 of 2023 )) of the following: “, Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/491 of 30 November 2023 and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/492 of 30 November 2023”. | ||
3. The Sea-Fisheries (Technical Measures) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 ( S.I. No. 13 of 2023 ) are revoked. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||

This instrument amends the Sea-Fisheries (Technical Measures) Regulations 2019 ( S.I. No. 520 of 2019 ) to give effect to (a) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/491 of 30 November 2023 as regards as regards specific technical measures for red seabream (Pagellus bogaraveo) in ICES subareas 6 to 8 and (b) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/492 of 30 November 2023 as regards the prolongation of technical measures for certain demersal and pelagic fisheries in the Celtic Sea, the Irish Sea and West of Scotland. | ||
