S.I. No. 721/2024 - Oireachtas (Allowances and Facilities) (Amendment) Regulations 2024

I, PASCHAL DONOHOE, Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 (4) of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act 1992 (No. 3 of 1992), and the Finance (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 418 of 2011 ), and the Public Expenditure and Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2023 ( S.I. No. 19 of 2023 ) hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These regulations may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances and Facilities) (Amendment) Regulations 2024.

(2) These regulations come into operation on 18 December 2024.

2. Regulation 11A of Oireachtas (Allowances and Facilities) Regulations ( S.I. No. 84 of 2010 ) as amended by the Oireachtas (Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations ( S.I. No. 196 of 2023 ) is amended-

(a) in subparagraph (1) by substituting “to the member a sum not exceeding €25,000, save for in exceptional circumstances as may be determined at the discretion of the Oireachtas Commission after consideration of a report of a Crime Prevention Officer (CPO)” for “on a once-off basis to the member a sum not exceeding €5,000, or 50% of their total costs, whichever is the lesser,”
