S.I. No. 87/2025 - Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2025

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 25th March, 2025.

I, JAMES BROWNE, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (1) of the Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Act 2024 (No. 40 of 2024), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2025.

2. The 21st day of March 2025 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Act 2024 (No. 40 of 2024) shall come into operation:

(a) section 28,

(b) Part 4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage by section 2 (1) of the Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Act 2024 (No. 40 of 2024), this Order appoints 21 March 2025 as the day on which Section 28 of Part 3 and Part 4 of that Act come into operation.
