S.I. No. 177/2025 - Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 (Retirement) Regulations 2025

I, MICHEÁL MARTIN, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me - | ||
(a) by section 254 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 (No. 1 of 2024), having consulted with the Garda Commissioner and the Authority, and | ||
(b) in respect of Regulation 3, by section 261(3) of that Act, | ||
and with the approval of the Government, hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 (Retirement) Regulations 2025. | ||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on 17 April 2025. | ||
2. Notwithstanding anything contained in - | ||
(a) the Gárda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 1934 (S. R. & O. No. 146 of 1934), as continued in force by section 128 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 and section 261 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 (No. 1 of 2024), or | ||
(b) the Gárda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 1951 ( S.I. No. 335 of 1951 ), as so continued in force, | ||
the member of An Garda Síochána who, immediately before the coming into operation of these regulations, holds the rank of Garda Commissioner shall retire on 1 September 2025. | ||
3. The Garda Síochána (Retirement) Regulations 2023 ( S.I. No. 397 of 2023 ) are revoked. | ||
The Government hereby approve of the foregoing Regulations. | ||
