BOVINE TUBERCULOSIS (CONTROL OF MOVEMENT AND PUBLIC SALES OF CATTLE) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1961. | ||
I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, it appearing to me to be necessary for the purpose of the progressive eradication of bovine tuberculosis, do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 22 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, and section 2 of the Diseases of Animals (Bovine Tuberculosis) Act, 1957 (No. 14 of 1957), as amended by section 5 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1960 (No. 26 of 1960), order as follows: 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Bovine Tuberculosis (Control of Movement and Public Sales of Cattle) (Amendment) Order, 1961. | ||
(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1961. 2. In the definition of " the area " contained in Article 2 of the Bovine Tuberculosis (Control of Movement and Public Sales of Cattle) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 39 of 1961 ), the following paragraphs are hereby inserted after paragraph (a):— | ||
"(a1) the administrative counties of Carlow, Laois and Wexford, | ||
(a2) the administrative county of Wicklow excluding that part of the county consisting of the rural district of Baltinglass No. 1 as existing immediately before the 1st day of October, 1925,". | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
This Order, by extending the provisions of the Bovine Tuberculosis (Control of Movement and Public Sales of Cattle) Order, 1961,— | ||
(a) prohibits movement of cattle, except under permit, into Counties Carlow, Laois, Wexford and Wicklow, excluding the rural district of Baltinglass No. 1, | ||
(b) specifies the classes of cattle for which such permits shall be granted, | ||
(c) regulates movement of cattle into and out of herds in the Area and | ||
(d) prohibits exposure of reactors at any public sale held in the Area. |
