HEALTH (CHARGES FOR IN-PATIENT SERVICES) REGULATIONS, 1976. | ||
The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947) and section 53 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health (Charges for In-Patient Services) Regulations, 1976. 2. In these Regulations— | ||
"the Act" means the Health Act, 1970 . 3. (1) A charge towards the cost of in-patient services provided under section 52 of the Act may be made on a person who is not a person with full eligibility where the person— | ||
( a ) has no dependants and | ||
( b ) has been in receipt of in-patient services for ninety days or for periods aggregating in total ninety days within the previous twelve months. | ||
(2) A charge under this article shall be at a rate not exceeding the income of the person, less a sum of £2.50 a week or less such larger sum as may be determined by the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board having regard to the circumstances of the case. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
These Regulations provide that charges towards the cost of hospital in-patient services provided under section 52 of the Health Act, 1970 , may be made in the case of long-stay patients without dependants who have not full eligibility for health services. |
