S.I. No. 469/2001 - Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (First Schedule) Order, 2001

I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 11 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (no. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), hereby order as follows —

1.   This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (First Schedule) Order, 2001.

2.   For all the purposes of the Act, the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 is amended by the substitution for -

(a) Part I of the First Schedule of —

“PART I

1.   Cattle.

2.   Goats.

3.   Cats and other feline animals.

4.   Dogs and other canine animals

5.   Horses and all other equine animals.

6.   Sheep.

7.   All other ruminating animals.

8.   Swine.

9.   Agoutis, beavers, capybara, chinchillas, ferrets, fitches, guinea pigs, hamsters, hares, hedgehogs, jerboas, lemmings, marmots, martens, mice, mink, moles, mongooses, nutria, porcupines, prairie dogs, raccoon, rabbits, rats, shrews, squirrels, voles, and all other animals of the genus rodentia, insectivora and mustelidae.

10. Animals of a kind, species or order other than those specified at entry nos 1-9 above.

11. the Order Artiodactyla, which order includes the animals commonly known as peccaries, hippopotamuses, camels, Ilamas, chevrotains, deer, giraffes, pronghorns, antelopes, duikers, and gazelles,

12. the Order Monotremata, which Order includes the animals commonly known as echidnae and duck-billed platypuses,

13. the Order Perissodactyla, which Order includes the animals commonly known as zebras, taipers and rhinoceroses,

14. the Order Pholidata, which Order is comprised of the animals commonly known as pangolins,

15. the Order Probiscidea, which Order is comprised of the animal commonly known as an elephant, and

16. the Order Tubilidentata, which Order is comprised of the animal commonly known as an aardvark.,

Class B

1.   Sheep Scab.

2.   Tuberculosis in ruminating animals.

3.   Brucellosis in ruminating animals and swine.

4.   Warble-fly infestation.

5.   Aujeszky's Disease.

6.   Campylobacteriosis.

7.   Caprine Viral Artheritis.

8.   Enzootic Abortion of ewes.

9.   Johnes Disease.

10. Maedi Visna.

11. Mycoplasmosis (caused by or involving Mycoplasma synovia).

12. Pulmonary Adenomatosis.

13. Salmonellosis (caused by or involving Salmonella enteriditis or Salmonella typhimurium).

14. Diseases of poultry caused by or involving Yersinnia spp.

15. Varroasis.”.

3.   The Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (First Schedule) Orders, 1968 to 1999 are revoked.

The effect of this Order is to consolidate and modify the First Schedule to the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 .
