S.I. No. 607/2011 - Teaching Council (Election of Members) (Amendment) Regulations 2011.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 25th November, 2011.

The Teaching Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Sections 4 and 10 of the Teaching Council Acts 2001 and 2006, with the consent of the Minister for Education and Skills, hereby make the following regulations—

Citation

1. (1) These regulations may be cited as the “Teaching Council (Election of Members) (Amendment) Regulations 2011”.

(2) The Principal Regulations and these regulations may be cited as the “Teaching Council (Election of Members) Regulations 2008 and 2011”.

Application

2. These regulations shall apply in respect of the Election Year preceding the expiry of the term of office of the members of the Council in office at the date of making these Regulations and all subsequent elections.

Interpretation

3. (1) In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Teaching Council (Election of Members) Regulations 2008 ( S.I. No. 386 of 2008 ).

(2) Unless the context otherwise requires, terms used in these Regulations shall have the meaning provided for in the Principal Regulations.

Amendment of Principal Regulations

4. The Principal Regulations are amended—

(1) in Regulation 6(3) by substituting “25 November (or such other date as the Council may specify)” for “14 October”;

(2) in Regulations 8(1) and 8(2) by substituting “10 January (or such other date as the Council may specify)” for “15 December”; and

(3) in Schedule 2 by inserting “and 2011” after the words “Teaching Council (Election of Members) Regulations 2008”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These regulations amend the Teaching Council (Election of Members) Regulations 2008 to alter certain dates in relation the publication of the electoral roll and notice of election for the purposes of the election of members to the Teaching Council in accordance with paragraphs (a)(i) and (b)(i) of section 8(2) of the Teaching Council Acts 2001 and 2006.
