The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 43 (2) of the Adoption (Amendment) Act 2017 (No. 19 of 2017), hereby orders as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Adoption (Amendment) Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2020. | ||
2. The 4th day of May 2020 is appointed as the day on which the Adoption (Amendment) Act 2017 (No. 19 of 2017), insofar as it is not already in operation, shall come into operation. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) | ||
This Order appoints 4 May 2020 as the date on which the following provisions of the Adoption (Amendment) Act 2017 come into operation: | ||
Section 3(a) of the 2017 Act in so far as it amends section 3 (1) of the Adoption Act 2010 to insert the following definitions: | ||
“donor-conceived child”; | ||
“father”; and | ||
paragraph (b) of “relevant non-guardian”. | ||
Section 3(b) of the 2017 Act in so far as it amends section 3(1) of the 2010 Act to insert a new paragraph (b) into definition of “parent”. |
