I, JENNIFER CARROLL MACNEILL, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 95 (3A) of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005), as amended by section 5 of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2023 (No. 14 of 2023), having consulted with the Social Care Workers Registration Board, hereby make the following regulations with respect to which, pursuant to section 95 (7) of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 , a draft has been laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas and a resolution approving the draft has been passed by each House: | ||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (Section 95(3A)) (Supplementary List of Qualifications Required By Existing Social Care Workers) Regulations 2025. | ||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of December 2025. | ||
2. In accordance with the powers conferred by Section 95 (3A) of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005), as amended by section 5 of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2023 (No. 14 of 2023), and having consulted with the Social Care Workers Registration Board, the courses listed at Regulation 3 herein below are prescribed as additional qualifications for the purposes of the third column of Schedule 3 to the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005) that, in the opinion of the Minister for Health, are sufficiently relevant to the corresponding profession listed in the second column of that Schedule, namely Social Care Workers, and attest to a standard of proficiency corresponding to the qualification specified for that profession in the third column of that Schedule, namely Social Care Workers. | ||
3. Schedule 3 to the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005), and in particular the third column referring to the profession of Social Care Workers (as listed in the tenth row of the second column), is hereby amended and supplemented with the following list of qualifications: | ||

The objective of these Regulations is to provide for the prescription of additional qualifications for the purposes of the third column of Schedule 3 to the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005) that, in the opinion of the Minister for Health, she having consulted with the Social Care Workers Registration Board, are sufficiently relevant to the Social Care Workers profession listed in the second column of that Schedule and attest to a standard of proficiency corresponding to a qualification specified for Social Care Workers in the third column of that Schedule. |
