Inquiry by legal visitors may be directed.

22. The Lord Chancellor intrusted as aforesaid may at any time, or from time to time, direct the legal visitors or any of them to inquire and report to him whether they or he are or is of opinion that the property of any person alleged to be of unsound mind or detained or taken charge of as of unsound mind but not yet found or declared to be a lunatic is not duly protected, or that the income thereof is not duly applied for his benefit; and if the said legal visitors or visitor so directed by the Lord Chancellor intrusted as aforesaid shall report that they or he are or is of opinion that the property of the person alleged to be of unsound mind or detained or taken charge of as of unsound mind, but not yet found or declared to be lunatic, is not duly protected, or that the income thereof is not duly applied for his benefit, or to the same effect, such report shall be filed in the office of the registrar in such manner and such order may be made and proceedings taken thereon, and all inquiries, declarations, and proceedings to be had thereon shall have such force and effect as has been herein before enacted in relation to reports to be made by the medical visitors, or one of them, or the orders and proceedings to be made and had thereupon.
