IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 160) (SPECIAL IMPORT LEVY) (No. 2) ORDER, 1966.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 160) (Special Import Levy) (No. 2) Order, 1966.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1966.

3. The Imposition of Duties (No. 146) (Special Import Levy) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1965 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution of the following subparagraph for subparagraph (1) of paragraph 2 :

"(1) In this Order 'the Principal Order' means the Imposition of Duties (No. 159) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 132 of 1966 ), as amended by any subsequent order, whether made before or after the commencement of this Order.",

(b) the substitution of the following for paragraph 6 (1) :

"(1) Whenever the Minister for Finance, after consultation with the Minister for Industry and Commerce, so thinks proper, the Revenue Commissioners may by licence authorise any particular person, subject to compliance with such conditions as they may think fit to impose, to import without payment of Special Import Levy, or on payment thereof at less than the rate ordinarily chargeable, any goods chargeable therewith or, in the case of any such goods already imported, to take delivery thereof without payment of Special Import Levy either, as the Revenue Commissioners shall think proper, without limit as to time or quantity or either of them, or within a specified time or in a specified quantity", and

(c) the substitution in paragraph 15 of "30th day of September, 1966" for "30th day of June, 1966" (inserted by the Imposition of Duties (No. 157) (Special Import Levy) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 59 of 1966 ) ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of this Order is to continue to 30th September, 1966, the operation of the levy imposed on 2nd November, 1965, on imports of certain goods.
