INSURANCE (INTERMITTENT UNEMPLOYMENT) REGULATIONS, 1979.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 12 , 24 and 42 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942) and the Social Welfare (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 1) Order, 1947 ( S.R. & O. No. 18 of 1947 ) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Regulations, 1979.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 6th day of April, 1979.

3. In these Regulations:—

( a ) the "Supplementary Benefit Regulations" means the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) (Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1943 ( S.R. & O. No. 109 of 1943 ) and

( b ) the "Contributions Regulations" means the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) (Contributions) Regulations, 1943 ( S.R. & O. No. 33 of 1943 ).

4. Paragraph (1) of regulation 2 of the Supplementary Benefit Regulations (as substituted by paragraph (1) of regulation 2 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) (Supplementary Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 15 of 1953 )) is hereby amended by the deletion of the words "the expression 'insurance card' means an insurance card issued in accordance with the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952)".

5. Paragraph (2) of regulation 7 of the Supplementary Benefit Regulations is hereby revoked.

6. Paragraph (4) of the Third Schedule of the Supplementary Benefit Regulations is hereby revoked.

7. Paragraph (3) of regulation 2 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) (Supplementary Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 15 of 1953 ) is hereby revoked.

8. Paragraph (2) of regulation 3 of the Contributions Regulations (as inserted by regulation 4 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) (Contributions) Amendment Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 1 of 1953 )) is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 15 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1978 , has repealed Sections 30 (2), 30 (4) and 43 (4) of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 , which relate to the possession by employers of current insurance cards issued under the Social Welfare Acts. These Regulations make consequential changes in the Contributions and Supplementary Benefit Regulations made under the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 . The changes include the removal of the necessity to produce an insurance card when application is being made for the issue of a wet-time book.
