LIMERICK COUNTY BOROUGH (ELECTORAL AREAS) ORDER, 1985.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (2) of section 7 of the Limerick City Management Act, 1934 (No. 35 of 1934), as substituted by section 87 of the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Limerick County Borough (Electoral Areas) Order, 1985.

2. The county borough of Limerick shall be divided into the electoral areas set out in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

3. Each such electoral area shall consist of the area described in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.

4. The number of members of the City Council to be elected for each such electoral area shall be the number set out in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.

5. The number of the said members to be elected for each such electoral area who are to be aldermen shall be the number set out in the fourth column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.

6. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a ward shall be construed as a reference to such ward as defined in the County Borough of Limerick (Wards) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1970 ).

7. The Limerick County Borough Electoral Areas Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1967 ) is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to divide Limerick County Borough into four electoral areas and to fix the number of members to be elected for each electoral area and the number who are to be aldermen.
