IMPORTATION OF CARCASES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS (PROHIBITION) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1992.

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 97 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) (Amendment) Order, 1992.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of October, 1992.

(3) The Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Orders, 1966 and 1989, and this Order may be cited together as the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Orders, 1966 to 1992.

2. The Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 201 of 1966 ) is hereby amended in Article 3 by the insertion of the following after the definition of "animal products":

"'blood' includes serum and any other derivative or extract of blood;".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order extends the application of the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 201 of 1966 ) to include serum and any other derivative or extract of blood and prohibits their importation except under licence.
