COINAGE (DIMENSION OF TEN PENCE COIN) REGULATIONS, 1993.

I, BERTIE AHERN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 (6) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Coinage (Dimension of Ten Pence Coin) Regulations, 1993.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1993.

2. In these Regulations "ten pence coin" means a coin of the denomination of ten pence provided under section 3 (1) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969).

3. The diameter of a ten pence coin shall be 2.2000 centimetres and, accordingly, the First Schedule to the Coinage (Dimensions and Designs) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 160 of 1969 ), is hereby amended by the substitution opposite the mention of ten pence of "2.2000" for "2.8500".

4. The graining upon the edge of a ten pence coin shall be of coarse mill.

5. The rim of a ten pence coin shall be beaded.

This Order provides for the issue of a new 10p coin of the dimensions specified in the Order.
