Children Act 2001 (Amendments to Part 11) (Commencement) Order 2006

I, Brian Lenihan, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 2 (2) (f) of the Children Act 2001 (No. 24 of 2001) and the Health and Children (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2004 ( S.I. No. 842 of 2004 ), with the agreement of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, hereby order as follows:

1.       This Order may be cited as the Children Act 2001 (Amendments to Part 11) (Commencement) Order 2006.

2.       The 1^st day of December 2006 is appointed as the day on which the amendments made to Part 11 of the Children Act 2001 (No. 24 of 2001) in sections 156 and 157 of, and paragraph 30 of Schedule 4 to, the Criminal Justice Act 2006 (No 26 of 2006) shall come into operation.

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform agrees to the making of the foregoing Order.

This Statutory Instrument commences certain provisions of Part 12 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 which amend the functions and composition of the Board membership of the Special Residential Services Board established under Part 11 of the Children Act 2001 .
