WILDLIFE (WILD MAMMALS) (OPEN SEASONS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 2008.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 19th February, 2008.

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 8(2) and 25 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), and the Heritage (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 2002 ( S.I. No. 356 of 2002 ) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 2008.

2. In this order the “Principal Order” means the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) Order, 2005 ( S.I No. 550 of 2005 ).

3. The Schedule to the “Principal Order” is amended by inserting the following directly beneath those columns relating to hares—

Muntjac Deer	The period beginning from the date of this Order and ending on the 31st day of March 2008	Shooting with firearms	Throughout the State

The effect of this Order is to include a hunting season for muntjac deer by amending the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) Order, 2005 (S.I. 550 of 2005).
