I, MARY COUGHLAN, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 98/8/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 February 1998 1 , and Commission Directive 2006/140/EC of 20 December 2006 2 and Commission Directive 2007/20/EC of 3 April 2007 3 , hereby make the following Regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Authorization, Placing on the Market, Use and Control of Biocidal Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2008. | ||
2. The European Communities (Authorization, Placing on the Market, Use and Control of Biocidal Products) Regulations 2001 (S. I. No. 625 of 2001) are amended in Regulation 2(1), by substituting for the definition of “the Directive of 1998”— | ||
“Directive 98/8/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 February 1998, and Commission Directive 2006/140/EC of 20 December 2006 and Commission Directive 2007/20/EC of 3 April 2007 (from 29 February 2008).” | ||

These Regulations transpose the amendments to Directive 98/8/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, to include dichlofluanid as an active substance in Annex 1 and sulfuryl fluoride as an active substance in Annex 1. | ||
