EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (INSURANCE MEDIATION) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2008 | ||

I, BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose giving further effect to Directive 2002/92/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 December 2002 1 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Insurance Mediation) (Amendment) Regulations 2008. | ||
2. In these Regulations “Principal Regulations” means the European Communities (Insurance Mediation) Regulations 2005 ( S.I. No. 13 of 2005 ). | ||
3. (1) Subject to paragraph (2), these Regulations come into operation on 30 June 2008. | ||
(2) A credit institution to which the Principal Regulations apply by virtue of Regulation 4 of these Regulations shall comply with the registration requirements of the Principal Regulations not later than 30 June 2008. | ||
4. Regulation 6(2) of the Principal Regulations is deleted. | ||

These Regulations are being made in order to ensure that credit institutions are required to be registered under the provisions of S.I. No. 13 of 2005 (European Communities (Insurance Mediation) Regulations 2005). | ||
These Regulations come into effect on 30 June 2008. | ||
