EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (INTERNAL MARKET IN ELECTRICITY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2009 | ||

I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive No. 2003/54/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2003 concerning common rules for the internal market in electricity and repealing Directive 96/92/EC 1 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Internal Market in Electricity) (Amendment) Regulations 2009. | ||
2. Regulation 53 of the European Communities (Internal Market in Electricity) Regulations 2000 ( S.I. No. 445 of 2000 ) is amended by substituting the following for paragraph (1): | ||
“(1) The number of directors including the chairperson shall notexceed 10.”. | ||

These Regulations allow the number of directors on the Board of EirGrid plc to be increased from eight to ten. | ||
