SIXTH AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION (ADOPTION) ACT, 1979 | ||||||||
AN ACT TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION. [3rd August, 1979] | ||||||||
WHEREAS by virtue of Article 46 of the Constitution any provision of the Constitution may be amended in the manner provided by that Article: | ||||||||
AND WHEREAS it is proposed to amend Article 37 of the Constitution: | ||||||||
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS: | ||||||||
Amendment of Article 37 of the Constitution. |
1.—Article 37 of the Constitution is hereby amended as follows: | |||||||
(a) the section set out in Part I of the Schedule to this Act shall be added to the Irish text, | ||||||||
(b) the section set out in Part II of the Schedule to this Act shall be added to the English text, | ||||||||
(c) Article 37 of both texts shall be numbered as section 1 of that Article. | ||||||||
Citation. |
2.—(1) The amendment of the Constitution effected by this Act shall be called the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution. | |||||||
(2) This Act may be cited as the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution (Adoption) Act, 1979. | ||||||||

2. No adoption of a person taking effect or expressed to take effect at any time after the coming into operation of this Constitution under laws enacted by the Oireachtas and being an adoption pursuant to an order made or an authorisation given by any person or body of persons designated by those laws to exercise such functions and powers was or shall be invalid by reason only of the fact that such person or body of persons was not a judge or a court appointed or established as such under this Constitution. |
